Frequently Asked Questions
Welcome to the Acalink FAQ. Here you will find answers to common questions about how our law school mentor platform works for mentees and mentors, how verification and pricing operate, and what you can expect when you use Acalink.
About Acalink
What is Acalink?
Acalink is a law school mentor platform that connects aspiring and current law students with verified mentors from top United States law schools and legal employers. Our mentors provide one to one guidance on LSAT prep, law school admissions, transferring, LLM applications, law school success, OCI, clerkships, and early legal careers.
How is Acalink different from traditional admissions consultants or test prep companies?
Traditional admissions consultants and test prep companies often rely on fixed packages, older playbooks, and premium pricing. Acalink connects you directly with mentors who are currently in law school or have recently graduated and gone through the latest admissions and recruiting cycles. Their insight is fresher, more practical, and often more affordable, and you can book as you need rather than buying large fixed packages.
Who is Acalink for?
Acalink is designed for:
- Future law students exploring whether law school is right for them
- Pre law and LSAT students preparing their applications
- Current JD and LLM students navigating exams, journals, clinics, transfers, OCI, and clerkships
- International students who want help understanding the United States legal education system
- Early career lawyers who want informal guidance on practice areas, career moves, or long term planning
Using Acalink as a mentee
How do I find a law school mentor on Acalink?
You can browse mentors on our Browse Mentors page and use filters for law school, program, year, background, and what they can help with, such as LSAT prep, personal statements, or OCI preparation. Each mentor has a detailed profile and reviews to help you decide who is the best fit.
What can mentors help me with?
Mentors can help with a wide range of topics, including:
- LSAT strategy and study plans
- Law school admissions and school list strategy
- Personal statements, diversity statements, and application essays
- Transfer and LLM applications
- Choosing between schools and scholarship offers
- Law school success, exams, journals, clinics, and moot court
- OCI, callbacks, clerkships, and early legal career decisions
Each mentor specifies their strengths and focus areas in their profile.
Can I work with more than one mentor?
Yes. Many mentees choose to work with different mentors for different needs. For example, you might choose one mentor for LSAT planning, another for personal statement feedback, and a third for OCI and career strategy. Acalink makes it easy to build your own advisory board.
How do sessions take place?
Sessions are held online through video calls integrated into Acalink or via another agreed digital method where appropriate. You and your mentor can talk through questions, share documents, and work live on applications or plans during your scheduled time.
Can I message my mentor between sessions?
Messaging options may vary by product version and mentor preference. In general, you should treat live sessions as the main time to get detailed guidance, and check your mentor profile to see whether they offer limited follow up messaging or document review between sessions.

How do I get verified as a mentor?
After you sign up and complete your profile, our team reviews your information and may request documentation such as proof of enrollment, degree, or employment. Once your information is confirmed, your profile will be marked as verified so mentees know that your academic and professional claims are accurate.
How do I set my rates and availability?
As a mentor you select your own hourly rate, session lengths, and time slots in your calendar. You can adjust these as your schedule changes. Many mentors choose different rates for different types of services or offer shorter sessions for focused topics.
Trust, safety, and verification
How does Acalink verify mentors?
We review academic and professional information for mentors before listing them as verified. This may include law school enrollment or graduation details, professional roles, or other documentation. Profiles that pass this review are clearly marked as verified so mentees know the information is trustworthy.
Are mentee reviews edited or removed?
We believe in transparency. Reviews on Acalink are meant to reflect the real experiences of mentees. We do not remove reviews simply because they are critical or negative. We may remove content that violates basic safety, harassment, or privacy standards, but not merely because feedback is not positive.
How does Acalink handle safety and conduct issues?
Acalink is intended to be a professional, respectful environment. Harassment, discrimination, and abusive behavior are not allowed. If you experience or observe misconduct, you can report it to us. We review reports and may warn, suspend, or remove users who do not meet our standards.
Is my data secure?
We apply industry standard security measures to protect your account and payment information. Payment processing is handled securely, and your financial details are not shared with mentors or other users. For more details, please review our Privacy Policy.
Pricing and payments
How much does Acalink cost?
Creating an account on Acalink is free. Mentors set their own rates based on experience, demand, and the type of support they offer. You pay only for the sessions you book, and pricing is clearly displayed before you confirm a booking.
Why are Acalink mentors often more affordable than traditional consultants?
Many Acalink mentors are current law students or recent graduates who already have job offers and mentor part time. They offer fresher insight at more accessible rates than traditional admissions consulting firms and test prep services that often charge premium prices for older or more generic advice.
How do payments work?
You pay for mentorship sessions through Acalink using secure payment methods, and mentors are paid out on a regular schedule. Acalink may charge a service fee that is factored into the booking process and disclosed before you confirm your session.
What is the refund or cancellation policy?
Refund and cancellation rules may depend on the timing and the specific booking. Generally, you must follow the cancellation windows shown at the time of booking. If a mentor does not show up or a serious problem occurs, please contact Acalink support so we can review the situation.
